The professional teams and the RB Leipzig U19 team will be wearing mourning shirts at their matches this weekend. As the club announced, this is a sign of remembrance and solidarity with the victims, their families and all those affected by the rampage in Leipzig city center. There will also be a minute's silence before kick-off. "RB Leipzig is thus sending a joint, silent signal of sympathy and solidarity in our city," the club wrote.
Two people die in rampage
According to the police, the perpetrator drove into Grimmaische Straße, one of the city's central shopping streets, in the city center on Monday. He hit several people with his car in the pedestrian zone. Two people died and six people were injured, some of them seriously. The driver then brought the car to a halt himself and allowed himself to be arrested without resistance.
