The sports court of the German Football Association (DFB) has imposed several penalties on regional league team Lok Leipzig for racist comments. Due to continued unsportsmanlike behavior by its supporters during the first round match of the DFB Cup against second division club FC Schalke 04, the fourth division club must pay 30,000 euros, of which up to 10,000 euros can be used for preventive measures against discrimination and racism, as announced by the DFB.
During the match on August 17 at the Bruno-Plache-Stadion, Schalke's Christopher Antwi-Adjei was insulted several times from the 13th minute until extra time, which led to a ten-minute stoppage in play and a stadium announcement. The host club apologized to the player for the incidents and is trying to identify the lone offender.
