This much money is certain - this much could be coming

Leipzig will receive around 18.5 million euros for qualifying for the top flight. However, the last Champions League season in 2024/25 illustrates that this is only a third of the income that can be planned for: Leipzig only won one match, but took home almost €59 million due to UEFA's distribution formula, which rewards performances from previous years. In its eight European Cup seasons to date, RB has collected almost €410 million in bonuses, according to UEFA.

New contracts for Diomande and Werner

The money will initially be invested in two pillars of the team. Yan Diomande is to be given a new contract - definitely with a pay rise, possibly with an exit clause. "He is the player who makes the difference. He has exploded, is an absolute key player," said Head of Sport Marcel Schäfer. "We will of course talk about his contract. Performance is rewarded."

Coach Ole Werner, who told his team in the circle after the game that they should let it rip, is to be extended beyond 2027. "He is an essential part of our success. We always have an interest in continuing a successful partnership," said Schäfer. Participation in the Champions League now provides planning security.

Poker for Gruda

Brajan Gruda was missing from the farewells before kick-off. The dribbler, who is on loan from Brighton, has to return to England for the time being, but his place of longing is Leipzig. "Saying goodbye before such an important game is not what Brajan wanted," said Schäfer. Leipzig - and, according to reports, Brighton - are considering another loan with an obligation to buy. According to Schäfer, the transfer fee will be the sticking point: "When I hear the amount from England, it could be over in three seconds." From RB's point of view, it shouldn't be more than 30 million euros.

The sales candidates

Schäfer still has to sell. "Anyone who knows our club knows that numbers play an extremely important role," said the 41-year-old. The scale of the past three years, when half a team of key players was sold, will not happen this summer. The departure of Castello Lukeba seems quite certain; the central defender has been linked with Manchester United. David Raum could also be on the move, as the captain reportedly has a release clause of around 40 million euros. In the case of Antonio Nusa, we will have to see if there is a market for him due to the World Cup.
