Jürgen Klopp cheered in the stands, Oliver Mintzlaff congratulated in the dressing room, Ole Werner gave the party order: The relief of returning to the Champions League was palpable at all levels at RB Leipzig. The 2:1 win against FC St. Pauli and thus securing third place in the Bundesliga lays the foundation for next season. And Leipzig has big plans for that.
This much money is certain - this much could be coming
Leipzig will receive around 18.5 million euros for qualifying for the top flight. However, the last Champions League season in 2024/25 illustrates that this is only a third of the income that can be planned for: Leipzig only won one match, but took home almost €59 million due to UEFA's distribution formula, which rewards performances from previous years. In its eight European Cup seasons to date, RB has collected almost €410 million in bonuses, according to UEFA.
