Last year, the police once again recorded an increase in cases of child abuse. The numbers rose both nationwide and in Saxony, according to the Federal Criminal Police Office’s (BKA) report “Sexual Offenses Against Children and Adolescents” and the police crime statistics for Saxony.
In 2025, 900 cases of child sexual abuse were recorded in the Free State of Saxony. In 2024, there were 871 cases, and 722 the year before. Nationwide, police recorded 17,126 cases of child sexual abuse last year—about 770 more than in 2024.
In contrast, the number of cases involving the distribution, acquisition, possession, and production of child pornography in Saxony has fluctuated. Last year, 1,663 cases were recorded. In 2024, there were about 200 fewer (1,462), while in 2023 there were about 200 more (1,868). Across Germany, 41,677 cases of child pornography were recorded last year.
