Last year, the regional retail company Konsum Leipzig achieved sales of more than 200 million euros, an increase of ten percent on the previous year.

The regional retail company Konsum Leipzig once again increased its turnover last year. For the first time, the cooperative achieved sales of just over 200 million euros, up around ten percent on the previous year, Konsum Leipzig announced on Friday.

The number of purchases and customers increased. On average, 11.57 euros were spent per purchase. The cooperative also grew by 2.5 percent to 29,492 members. Konsum Leipzig will be 140 years old this year.

The Supervisory Board decided to extend the contracts of the two Management Board members. Dirk Thärichen has been a member of the Management Board since 2014, his Co-CEO Michael Faupel since 2015. The duo has modernized and restructured the long-established company in recent years. Among other things, unprofitable stores have been closed and others refurbished.

Konsum Leipzig operates 59 supermarkets in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. The company only provides information on earnings in May after the annual financial statements have been audited by the cooperative association.
