The Christopher Street Day (CSD) in Dresden may not be classified as an assembly in its entirety, according to a decision by the State Directorate of Saxony. Only the parade is an assembly, but not the multi-day street festival, announced the state directorate as the highest assembly authority in the Free State. The background to this is the question of who has to bear the costs for security, infrastructure and cleaning.
Only the CSD parade is an assembly
The CSD street festival from 4 to 6 June with stalls, catering and stage programs is legally considered an event, it said. The parade on the final day, on the other hand, which focuses on the expression of political opinions, is an assembly within the meaning of assembly law.
