The Pirna Federal Police Headquarters is tightening controls at the borders with the Czech Republic and Poland. Additional personnel are being deployed for this purpose, a spokesperson explained on request. He did not want to give exact figures. The background to this is a directive from the Federal Ministry of the Interior. The new Federal Minister of the Interior, Alexander Dobrindt (CSU), had announced that stricter checks would be carried out. Asylum seekers should also be able to be turned back at the border if they have already submitted applications in other EU countries. However, this should not apply to pregnant women, children and other members of vulnerable groups.
