Low mountain ranges, lakes, amusement parks: Saxony has plenty to offer for a varied family vacation this summer. The tourism industry expects more bookings in the coming weeks.

As the summer vacation gets underway, Saxony’s tourism businesses are looking forward to welcoming many guests. The State Tourism Association reports that the booking situation for the summer season is good overall. “At the same time, there is still availability in many places for anyone who decides on the spur of the moment to take a vacation in the Free State.”

Start of Summer Vacation in Numerous Federal States

Summer vacation begins this weekend not only in Saxony. In Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, and Schleswig-Holstein, the school year also ends on Friday (July 3). Lower Saxony and Bremen already had their last day of school on Wednesday, and summer vacation has already begun in Hesse, Saarland, and Rhineland-Palatinate as well. Brandenburg, Berlin, and Hamburg will follow on Thursday of next week (July 9).

According to the tourism industry, family-friendly activities, active outdoor experiences, cultural highlights, and open-air events are particularly in demand. Since many guests are planning their trips at the last minute, further bookings are expected in the coming weeks.
