The iconic television tower in Liberec in the Czech Republic has a new owner. It now belongs to the Liberec region. On Wednesday, the purchase agreement was signed with the previous owner, telecommunications service provider Ceske Radiokomunikace. The price is the equivalent of just under seven and a half million euros. This will ensure that the listed ensemble remains accessible to the public in the long term, announced Regional President Martin Puta.
Extensive renovation planned
The television tower, which is a popular tourist destination, is located almost 100 kilometers south-east of Dresden. In addition to the actual broadcasting facilities, it also houses a mountain hotel and a restaurant with seating for around 300 people. Part of the purchase is the furniture, most of which was created by designers especially for the building. Extensive refurbishment of the building, which was completed in 1973, is planned. Five years ago, a design by an architecture studio from Hradec Kralove was selected in a competition.
