The University of Leipzig fell victim to a hacker attack this morning. As a result, all of the university’s servers connected to the Internet were taken offline “to prevent damage,” according to a spokesperson. Consequently, students and staff are currently unable to receive emails. It is not yet known whether student data was compromised as a result of the attack. The spokesperson was also unable to provide any details on how the university’s security system was breached. Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de). All rights reserved
