There are signs that this year's flu epidemic in Saxony is coming to an end. This is how the State Investigation Institute (LUA) in Chemnitz assesses the situation in the Free State. The number of influenza cases fell by 46 percent last week compared to the previous week, according to the LUA's weekly report. According to the report, the number of influenza cases has been falling since the end of January.
All age groups are affected, with health authorities reporting clusters in hospitals and occasionally in children's facilities and retirement homes. Since the start of the flu season at the end of September 2025, 229 people have died with a confirmed case of influenza.
