Seven further projects are being funded with 9.25 million euros for cross-border cooperation between Saxony and the Czech Republic. These include the Silver Route project, which aims to develop sustainable tourism offers in order to better connect the 22 components of the UNESCO World Heritage Ore Mountains/Krusnohori mining region, as announced by the Ministry for Regional Development on Friday. Another project on floodplain protection aims to improve natural areas in the Elbe Valley between Litomerice (Leitmeritz) and Dresden through practical species and nature conservation.

Regional Development Minister Thomas Schmidt (CDU) praised the diversity and quality of Saxon-Czech cooperation. These ranged from tourism to nature conservation and environmental protection to school and extracurricular education. With the latest award by the Monitoring Committee, the number of cooperation projects funded by the Interreg Saxony-Czech Republic 2021-2027 program has increased to 36. They will be supported with 53.11 million euros from EU funds.
