Two People Seriously Injured in Accident – Driver Flees the Scene

A driver is alleged to have overtaken a truck with a trailer on Federal Highway 115 in the Görlitz district despite oncoming traffic, thereby causing a serious accident. A 57-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy were seriously injured in the accident, according to police. The driver, who has not yet been identified, simply drove on afterward.

The 57-year-old was driving his car with a recreational trailer on the B115 on Saturday afternoon. In a long, sweeping left-hand curve, the other driver is said to have overtaken the vehicle combination despite oncoming traffic. The 57-year-old was then forced to brake sharply to avoid a collision.

Caravan begins to swerve

As a result of the braking maneuver, the caravan began to swerve and the vehicle combination veered off the road. The caravan detached from the car, which then crashed head-on into a tree. The travel trailer came to a stop in the oncoming lane.

The 57-year-old and his 13-year-old passenger were seriously injured and taken to a hospital. The federal highway was completely closed for about five hours following the accident.

Police Search for Unknown Driver

Police are now searching for the unknown driver, who is believed to have been driving a white station wagon. Potential witnesses are asked to come forward with information, authorities said. The driver is under investigation for, among other things, endangering road traffic, negligent bodily injury, and leaving the scene of an accident.
