Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer sees a future for production at the Volkswagen site in Zwickau. "I am very sure that Zwickau has a perspective," said the CDU politician on ZDF television. At the same time, he called on trade unions and federal politicians to help secure the site.
Volkswagen builds electric cars at the Zwickau site. The local people are fighting for their future, said Kretschmer. Politicians must ensure that Germany as a business location becomes stronger overall, he added.
Production in Zwickau had also been reduced due to overcapacity at the German sites. As things stand today, production will also be secured at all German sites in the coming week, the Group announced in Wolfsburg on Thursday.
