There are increasing indications that an investor may be joining the insolvent Leipzig-based streetcar manufacturer Heiterblick. The company is "on the home straight" in its search for an investor, a spokesperson announced. The company is in contact with several interested parties. According to company sources, talks with the Polish rail vehicle manufacturer Pesa are at an advanced stage. The company did not initially confirm this information. The "Leipziger Volkszeitung" had previously reported on this.
Officially, Heiterblick points out that the company has been undergoing restructuring proceedings under self-administration since April. The aim is to reduce costs, increase revenue and reach agreements with customers to complete existing orders. Despite the insolvency, operations have largely continued and the workforce has recently been on short-time working.
The company, which employs around 250 people, has been struggling with difficulties for months: Städtische Verkehrsbetriebe Zwickau recently canceled an order for six streetcars. Another order from Görlitz was also in jeopardy. For the city of Leipzig, a possible investor entry is also about securing the completion of the new streetcars ordered by the city.
