Train travelers and commuters must continue to expect delays on the route between Berlin and Dresden on Tuesday. The reason for this is an overhead line damaged by a truck at a level crossing in Großenhain, Saxony (Meißen district). The repair work is ongoing, a Deutsche Bahn spokeswoman told the German Press Agency.
According to Deutsche Bahn, intercity trains are being diverted via Riesa and are around 50 minutes late. Eurocity trains are running slower in the Großenhain area, but on schedule. The regional express lines RE15, which connects Dresden with Hoyerswerda, and RE18 from Dresden to Cottbus are also affected. According to the railroad company, the stops in Lampertswalde in Saxony (Meißen district) and Ortrand in Brandenburg (Oberspreewald-Lausitz district) will be canceled. A replacement bus service has been set up.
The repairs are ongoing. It is still unclear when the damage can be repaired. Travelers on the route should check their journey online or in the rail navigator.
