Following the cyberattack on the University of Leipzig, the servers will remain offline at least through the weekend. However, some departments are partially accessible again.

The University of Leipzig will remain offline over the weekend following the cyberattack on Wednesday morning. A spokesperson stated that the servers, which were shut down as a result of the attack, will not be restarted until Monday at the earliest.

As a result, email services for staff and students remain disrupted. However, according to the spokesperson, the university’s faculties and central departments are now once again reachable via email through an external system. Central departments include, for example, the University Library, the Center for University Sports, and the Language Center.

Exam Submission Deadline Extended

Students and staff can stay informed about new developments via a temporary website, accessible at the usual web address, as well as through the university’s Instagram account. The site also states that the submission deadline for term papers and theses has been extended to November 6. Classes are continuing as scheduled, and the university library will remain open over the weekend, the spokesperson said.

He further reported that the university has since filed a police report against persons unknown.
