Full throttle through the night: police can only stop a driver after a 100-kilometer chase through the Ore Mountains. He now faces several criminal proceedings.

A driver in eastern Thuringia gave police a chase all the way to Saxony. Officers wanted to check the car on the night of Easter Monday in Reudnitz (Greiz district) because the driver was driving without his lights on.

However, the man fled and ignored all signals to stop. The police then pursued the 54-year-old driver over 100 kilometers through the Ore Mountains to Zwickau. The car was only finally stopped in Rottmannsdorf.

According to initial findings, the man's driving license had been issued for confiscation. He was also not authorized to use the vehicle. During the escape, the man reportedly endangered several road users and committed numerous traffic offences.

Criminal proceedings were initiated against him for, among other things, illegal motor vehicle racing, endangering road traffic and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
