Good news for swimmers in Dresden and Gohrisch: The Saxon state capital will receive 2.5 million euros for the construction of a new replacement facility for the Klotzsche indoor swimming pool, and the municipality of Gohrisch will receive 1 million euros for the renovation of the Cunnersdorf Walbad. The funds come from the so-called “Sports Billion” from the federal government’s special fund “Infrastructure and Climate Neutrality.” “This is really great news!” said Rasha Nasr, the Dresden-based SPD member of the Bundestag, according to a press release. She expressed her delight that her efforts on behalf of the two projects in her congressional district had paid off. A total of 250 million euros was available for swimming pool funding. However, the responsible Federal Institute for Construction received 942 applications requesting a total of 3.2 billion euros in funding.
