A standardized catalog of fines for animal transports throughout Saxony is intended to provide more clarity and uniformity in dealing with violations. It defines clear criteria and gives recommendations for the range of fines to enable uniform enforcement, as announced by the Saxony State Directorate.
The state directorate is thus responding to a request from the lower veterinary offices. This will enable them to propose traceable fines more quickly in the event of infringements - for example in cases of animal cruelty by beating or insufficient food and space during transportation.
"With this catalog, we are creating more clarity regarding sanctions for violations and, above all, strengthening animal welfare," said Béla Bélafi, President of the State Directorate. For example, the catalog provides for a fine of 350 euros per animal if transport companies do not comply with the legally prescribed rest period of 24 hours after the prescribed maximum transport time.
