Dynamo Plans New Memorial
The loss of Hans-Jürgen “Hansi” Kreische in April once again highlighted how important a permanent memorial site is for the Dynamo Dresden sports community. Following the death of the club icon, a small memorial was quickly set up at the stadium entrance on Lennéplatz. A photo of the honorary captain and record-holding goal scorer was displayed there, and numerous flowers were laid. It quickly became clear that this should evolve into something more: a permanent place where the entire Dynamo community can honor its departed members.
The glory days of the 1970s are now some 50 years in the past. Many of the pioneers and club legends from that era have since passed away. Alongside Kreische, names such as Reinhard Häfner and Hans-Jürgen “Dixie” Dörner serve as reminders of a special generation within the sports community. Their stories and achievements should be preserved for future generations as well.
