Even when the big snow is gone, ski resorts in Saxony and Thuringia remain open.

Despite the lack of snow, skiers in Saxony and Thuringia are still getting their money's worth: snow machines are making sure the slopes are passable in many places. People from Saxony-Anhalt will have to make a longer journey.

The Regionalverbund Thüringer Wald e.V. recommends skiing in Steinach at the weekend. The conditions are perfect at the weekend, according to the association. Those who want to go to Oberhof should only go on Sunday. The Luge World Cup will take place here beforehand. The slopes and lifts will therefore be closed on Friday and Saturday.

Fichtelberg: slopes open

The winter sports areas in Saxony are also still open. At Eibenstock, the slopes are reportedly being groomed with machine snow every day. The Fichtelberg is also preparing its slopes for skiers: From the suspension lift to the Himmelsleiter T-bar lift, several lifts are open here. "The slopes are in perfect condition due to the icy cold nights," said a spokesperson.

Saxony-Anhalt lacks snow

The few ski slopes that Saxony-Anhalt has to offer are closed due to a lack of snow. In Wernigerode, the Zwölfmorgental ski slope is closed. The practice lift is also unavailable. Cross-country skiers will have to be patient in all three federal states: Conditions are currently not good for them.

Sunshine expected for skiing

The weather will remain clear and dry at the start of the weekend. Only a few clouds will appear. Temperatures on Friday will be between minus four and zero degrees. Thuringia will have the mildest conditions with temperatures around freezing point.

In the night to Saturday, significant frost of up to minus ten degrees is expected again. Scattered snow or snow drizzle may fall in Thuringia.
