The SC DHfK Leipzig handball team suffered the heaviest defeat in their Bundesliga history after an indisputable performance. Coach Raul Alonso's team went down 24:42 (11:21) to SG Flensburg-Handewitt in front of their home crowd and are now on 1:13 points. SC DHfK's best scorer was William Bogojevic with seven goals. Simon Pytlick scored nine times for Flensburg in front of 4,483 spectators.
Leipzig's hopes of a surprise fizzled out in the opening spell. Three days after their 28:26 win in the cup in Göppingen, the home side not only made numerous technical mistakes, but was also completely overwhelmed by Flensburg's fast-paced play. The favorites were 9:1 ahead after just nine minutes.
The club from Leipzig was able to stalk back to 5:11 in the 12th minute, but when the visitors stepped up the intensity again, they quickly pulled 18:8 ahead in the 21st minute.
The club from Flensburg continued to dominate at will after the break and extended its lead to 36:18 in the 50th minute before taking it a little easier in the final spell.
