Eight-time motorcycle world champion Marc Márquez crowned his 200th start in the premier class with a commanding victory at the Sachsenring. The Spanish Ducati rider won the German Grand Prix for the ninth time in his MotoGP career. 256,441 spectators came to the track on the race weekend - breaking the record once again.
The MotoGP dominator extended his lead in the overall standings with his seventh win of the season. Márquez, who also won the sprint on Saturday, was followed by his younger brother Alex Márquez and Francesco Bagnaia (both Ducati) in the crash festival at the Sachsenring. A total of eight riders were eliminated.
In the Moto3 class, the Intact GP racing team was delighted with a home win, which David Muñoz clinched for the Memmingen-based team. "He did a very smart job, that was impressive," said team boss Jürgen Lingg.
Kratochwil finishes on the podium
In addition, a local hero in Fynn Kratochwil maintained his lead in the overall standings of the Northern Talent Cup. The 14-year-old finished third in the junior series sponsored by ADAC, Honda and MotoGP rights holder Dorna one day after his victory on Saturday. The Thuringian is regarded as one of the greatest German talents.
