"I think it's very important to stand up against stupidity and right-wing extremism in any form. I think it's good that people are doing this, that they are clearly flying the flag and taking to the streets," said the 47-year-old on Thursday.
A demonstration will take place in Leipzig on Sunday afternoon. Rose left it open as to whether he will take part. "It's important to stand up against it and make a statement there and not play it down, but be there and if the time is there and it needs it, then I'll always be there," said the coach.
Rose's Freiburg counterpart Christian Streich had taken part in a demonstration on Wednesday. "Anyone who doesn't stand up now hasn't understood anything. It's 5 to 12. Everyone in this country is called upon to take a clear stance in the family circle, at work or elsewhere," said Streich.
Rose said of the AfD that the party "sends out relatively clear signals and has wings that cannot simply be negated". "And you can't tolerate or accept that, because if you look the other way for too long when things are stupid, then it can become dangerous," said the coach. Accordingly, it was important to make clear decisions based on the rule of law.
