Pyrotechnics, damage to property and a pitch disturbance: the regional league club Hallescher FC has condemned the incidents at the home match against Chemie Leipzig. The police also had to intervene.

Regional league soccer club Hallescher FC has condemned the violence at the home match against Chemie Leipzig. According to the HFC and police, numerous firecrackers and rockets from the visitors' block ended up in other spectator areas and inside the stadium. After the final whistle, supporters of the hosts tried to get through the interior to the visitors' block, which the police were able to prevent.

"Hallescher FC condemns all forms of violence. Provocations - regardless of which side - must never lead to physical confrontations or riots. Such scenes do not belong in stadiums," the club wrote in a press release following the goalless draw between the two teams.

"The club will carefully review the events in the coming hours and days together with the security authorities, the stadium company and the service providers involved," it continued. "Thoroughness takes precedence over speed. The aim is to clearly classify the incidents, clarify responsibilities and take measures to avoid similar situations in the future."

Police with 480 officers on duty

Three people were injured in total, one person had to be treated in hospital. The police opened several investigations, including nine cases of bodily harm, four cases of damage to property and one case of assault on law enforcement officers, according to the Halle (Saale) police station. The police had deployed 480 officers, who also dealt with isolated clashes in the city after the final whistle, even though the arrival and departure of the fans went "without any major incidents".

Chemie coach Adrian Alipour told MDR after the match: "I don't want to comment on that now. I believe that this will be dealt with as a whole. When it has been dealt with, there will be other people to talk to than me." When asked, however, he said that such scenes were of course not wanted.
