A win for Dresden at the promotion candidates would have meant another big jump in the table. But it didn't come to that. Ultimately, the Saxons must be happy with the one point.

The second clean sheet of the season, another point at a promotion contender, but ultimately two points too few: Dynamo Dresden simply cannot escape the relegation places in Bundesliga 2. However, the goalless draw at Hannover 96 at least ensured that the red lantern only shone in Dresden for one night and that there is only a three-point difference to 12th place.

"This point is worth its weight in gold," said Dynamo coach Thomas Stamm. They had already taken a point against an enormously strong team in the 2-2 draw at home. "Back then it was rather fortunate, today it was certainly not undeserved due to the first half," Stamm emphasized on the "Sky" microphone, but also found critical points. In the second half, for example, the team once again simply lost a lot of balls carelessly. "We have to be even cleaner, even clearer," demanded the coach.

Strong start from the visitors

Dynamo started with the starting XI from the 2-1 defeat against SV Elversberg. And surprised the hosts with a brisk opening phase. Attack after attack rolled towards the 96 goal, mainly down the right flank. However, it was not really dangerous. Jason Ceka's shot from distance slipped over the bar in the 4th minute and an attempt by Kofio Amoako (18th) also proved too harmless.

After around 20 minutes, Hannover began to do more for their own game. Attempts were made to break down the Dynamo defense, mainly through one or two solo runs from midfield. A shot from Boris Tomiak (39') was blocked by Amoako, while Elias Saad (43') shot wide of the goal from close range in the 96ers' best opportunity. So the goalless draw at the break was a correct affair. Both clubs were on an equal footing despite the very different starting positions, but shied away from the final offensive risk.

Hannover increased the pressure after the break

At least Lower Saxony changed that after the break. There was little relief from Dynamo and the home side came closer and closer. In the 56th minute, Daisuke Yokota was held by Alexander Rossipal's shirt in the penalty area and fell, but the penalty whistle was not blown, much to the incomprehension of the Hanoverians. Saad (63) tested Dynamo goalkeeper Tim Schreiber from an acute angle, but he saved.

Schreiber becomes the best Dynamo

Stamm reacted, replacing both Jonas Sterner and Rossipal in the full-back positions and bringing in fresh, quicker players in Konrad Faber and Sascha Risch. However, this did not change the course of the game. On the contrary. Hanover's Boris Tomiak, who was later carried off the pitch after a collision with goalkeeper Nahuel Noll, had a shot from 13 meters out after a one-two, but Schreiber made another strong save. And Schreiber also saved a header from Stefan Thordarson (90.+4) with a reflex save from the line

Dynamo's own attacking efforts, on the other hand, were pitiful. Especially when Ben Bobzien moved up the left wing and tried to serve the center, the danger was usually gone. This was because the passes usually came into the back of the attackers - something that was already noticeable in the Elversberg game.
