In game one after the riots at home against Hertha BSC, the Ultras of Dynamo Dresden did not allow themselves any riots and celebrated an important home win for the SG. The team from the Elbe city beat VfL Bochum 2:0 (1:0) and gained some breathing space in the relegation battle in the 2nd Bundesliga.
The Saxons are five points clear of the first direct relegation spot. They also moved to within one point of Bochum (36). Jason Ceka (5th minute) had put the hosts ahead in front of 30,616 spectators, after the change Vincent Vermeij (59th) increased the lead.
Ceka's early lead (5th minute) did not provide much tailwind. Although Kofi Amoako (14) could have increased the lead after a strong solo run, he was denied by VfL keeper Timo Horn from close range. Bochum only had their first top-class chance in the 18th minute thanks to Mats Pannewig. However, Dynamo substitute keeper Daniel Mesenhöler, who came on at short notice for Tim Schreiber (muscle problems), was wide awake. After that, the game flattened out, Dynamo took few risks and played too much at the back instead of searching for depth.
