Christoph Dabrowski had to settle for a draw on his debut as coach of third-division soccer club FC Erzgebirge Aue. In the goalless draw against FC Ingolstadt on matchday 23, Vincent Ocansey missed the best chance shortly before the end in front of 6,961 spectators. As a result, the successor to Jens Härtel, who was released a week ago, remains in a relegation spot with Aue.
In an evenly-matched first half, Aue's top scorer Marcel Bär missed the post in the 32nd minute. A minute earlier, Aue goalkeeper Martin Männel had saved the hosts from going behind when Philip Fahrner had a great chance.
After the break, the visitors were unlucky with a shot over the bar, before Ocansey negligently missed the biggest opportunity of the game four minutes before the end of normal time. Alone in front of the Saarbrücken goalkeeper, the striker fired the ball wide of the goal to deny Aue a move to a non-relegation place. Männel then prevented a late lucky punch from the visitors with the last action.
