FC Erzgebirge Aue have won their dress rehearsal for the 3rd Football League season starting on August 1st. The team coached by Jens Härtel won 2:0 (1:0) against league rivals Energie Cottbus.
In front of 1,237 spectators at the Lautengrundstadion in Marienberg, Marvin Stefaniak put the Saxons ahead in the third minute. Young striker Lukas Schimkus profited from a mistake by Energie goalkeeper Elias Bethke in the 81st minute and scored the final goal. Energie created more chances in the lively game, but proved less effective than Aue.
Aue still have eight days until their home opener. Hansa Rostock will visit the Erzgebirgstadion on August 3.
