Leipzig's female soccer players fail to find their winning ways. Another defeat against Hamburg. Meanwhile, HSV celebrate their first win of the season.

The Bundesliga footballers from RB Leipzig have suffered their third defeat in a row. Despite having the home advantage, they were beaten 0:1 (0:0) by Hamburger SV. Top talent Lotta Wrede scored the decisive goal in the 77th minute to give HSV their first win of the season. The win lifted the Hamburg side past Leipzig (10th) into ninth place in the table.

The hosts had more of the play until the break. However, they lacked consistency in attack and went into the break without scoring. First, ex-Hamburger Lisa Baum failed to score from the outside of the net (21st). Then Emilia Asgeirsdottir narrowly missed (25') and Julia Landenberger headed over the goal after a corner (27').

HSV in luck - Leipzig fail to score

Shortly after the break, Hamburg's Mia Büchele (48') hit the top edge of the crossbar from 18 meters. HSV were now much braver and played a more balanced game than in the first 45 minutes. Apart from a solo effort from Giovanna Hoffmann (59'), there was little to see from RBL in this phase.

Wrede scored the decisive goal when she broke through in front of the penalty area and slotted home from the edge of the box with a low left-footed finish that RB keeper Elvira Herzog could not keep out. RB piled on the pressure again. A long-range shot from Giovanna Hoffmann (81st) went just wide of the goal and Marleen Schimmer struck the crossbar with a free-kick (90th).
