More than 58,000 people in Saxony would be affected by the politically discussed abolition of care grade 1. The state government must therefore lobby the federal government to maintain the care degree, demanded the VdK Saxony social association. According to the Federal Ministry of Health, a federal and state working group is also looking at care grades and their orientation. The first interim results are therefore expected in October.

Social association: maintaining independence would be sacrificed

The idea of abolishing care grade 1 is a consideration of the social cold, said state association president Horst Wehner. According to a "Bild" report, the black-red coalition is discussing the possible abolition of care level 1. The background to this is the financial problems in long-term care insurance. Leading politicians from the CDU/CSU and SPD have confirmed that such a reduction is being considered, according to the report.
