Trends at the leisure trade fair Touristik & Caravaning Leipzig

The leisure trade fair Touristik & Caravaning (TC) Leipzig continues to grow. Around 470 exhibitors from the camping and tourism sector, 20 more than in the previous year, will be presenting themselves on a good 60,000 square meters, said Alexander Ege, Director of Trade Fairs and Events at Messe Stuttgart.

The number of exhibitors documents the unbroken interest of the industry, emphasized Ege. The largest public trade fair for vacations and leisure in Central Germany has been taking place since 1990, and the Swabians have been organizing the Leipziger TC since 2018. Touristik & Caravaning opens its doors from Wednesday to Sunday. Last year, almost 57,000 guests came to the halls of the Leipzig trade fair.

In addition to topics relating to vacations, cruises and boat trips, biking and outdoor activities and enjoyment, the camping and caravanning sector is particularly well represented at the vacation trade fair. Around 400 vehicles ranging from small caravans to eleven-metre-long luxury liners costing almost 800,000 euros await visitors.

Trend: Lightweight, fully equipped caravan also for e-cars

A trend this year, according to Ege, is towards small caravans. These are available for just under 20,000 euros and offer an all-round package with four berths, a fridge, cooking facilities, heating and a toilet. "The trailers weigh around 1,000 kilograms and are therefore also interesting for e-cars with a lower trailer load," said one dealer.

In addition, the trend is towards individualization of the vehicles. "This applies to the color of the vehicles, alternative toilet systems and even more powerful batteries," explained Ege. In addition to vehicle manufacturers, dozens of exhibitors in the areas of pleasure and cuisine are also represented at the trade fair.

Catalonia away from Barcelona

The partner region this year is Catalonia. A two-week "Grand Tour" will be presented, which, in addition to Barcelona, will also show the hinterland with many lesser-known places for active or outdoor vacations. The suggested routes are also suitable for individual trips with a camper or electric car, with information on charging stations. Nearby regions in Saxony are also represented with information stands at the trade fair.
