In Saxony, the final preparations are underway before the start of this year's outdoor pool season. The first pools in the state will open in mid-May and some will remain open until the beginning of September, according to the operators.

In the state capital, the first three pools - the Georg-Arnold outdoor pool, the Wostra lido and the Prohlis combined pool - will open their doors to visitors on May 16, according to Lars Kühl, spokesperson for the Dresden pools. According to the cities, the season will also start in Chemnitz and Leipzig on May 18. The remaining facilities in Saxony will follow suit towards the end of May.

According to Kühl, "the outdoor pool business is of course extremely weather-dependent" and ideally requires longer periods of heat and, if possible, no rain. However, he is hoping for good conditions. The pools are in a good position. There have been no major renovations or innovations within the Dresden pools, but seasonal staff are still needed, especially in the ticket office area.

In Chemnitz, swimming fans can already enjoy the water in the Rabenstein reservoir from the beginning of May. However, according to the city, the outdoor pool area of the Bernsdorf pool is expected to remain closed for the entire season due to ongoing construction work. In addition, the "Am Südring" indoor swimming pool will be open at weekends as part of a pilot project if the weather continues to be bad.
