Boats are now allowed to use additional areas of Lake Geierswald and Lake Partwitz near Hoyerswerda. However, there are also exceptions.

Further areas on the Geierswalder and Partwitzer lakes near Hoyerswerda have been opened to shipping. Like the previously approved lake areas, these can be used by passenger ships, motorized pleasure craft and pleasure craft without a motor, as announced by the State Directorate (LDS).

"We are continuing to develop shipping on Saxony's lakes - with a sense of proportion, so that tourism, boating and the economy can grow and nature can continue to breathe at the same time. This is the only way for the regions around the lakes to benefit sustainably," said LDS President Béla Bélafi.
