Gräfes Wein & fein in Radebeul wins the Fair Wine Award 2026 at EUROVINO in Karlsruhe - award for sustainable wine industry and regional wine shop quality.

Gräfes Wein & fein in Radebeul is the Wine Bar of the Year 2026. Matthias Gräfe has now received the Fair Wine Award from Denis Duhme and Michael Kugel at the Eurovino wine fair. In addition to him, vinocentral GmbH (Darmstadt) was honored in the specialist wine retail category, Silkes Weinkeller GmbH (Mettmann) in the online retail category and Weinkellerei Höchst (Frankfurt) with the jury's special prize. Matthias Gräfe and his team's Wein & fein is thus the only representative from eastern Germany among the award winners - just as the numerous prizes for winemakers and wines did not take part in the round of awards.

This is not the first time Matthias Gräfe has been honored. In the Falstaff Barguide 2023, the combination of  excellently stocked specialist shop and bistro was named the best "wine bar in a vinotheque" and received 92 (out of a possible 100) points and three glasses (out of a possible four). In subsequent years, the team improved its performance even further and received 93 points each time. In the summer of 2023, Gräfes Wein fein in Radebeul was then accepted into the exclusive circle of only 49 vinotheques, wine bars and wine lounges in Germany at the time, "which define themselves through informal wine enjoyment and committed wine personalities and where both beginners and wine connoisseurs feel at home" (from the award ceremony) and has been a "Gerolsteiner Wine Place" ever since. There are only three of these in Saxony - in addition to Gräfes Wein & fein, there is also the WeinKulturBar in Dresden and the Herder10 in Freiberg.

For a future-oriented wine industry

Fair Wine is a network that is committed to a future-oriented and sustainable wine industry. With the Fair Wine Award, it not only honors the entrepreneurs mentioned above, but also awards the Fair Wine Award under the motto "Fair has a future" to wines that meet the challenges of climate change and ecological change. Wines from sustainable production and organic wines such as the 2025 Riesling Kabinett "Sappalot" from Weingut Scherr (Hainfeld) and the 2023 Grüner Veltliner Ried Felser Brunnthal (Weingut Magerl, Wagram, Austria) were honored at the Fair Wine Award 2026. Wines from resistant or historical grape varieties were also awarded prizes.

Successful new trade fair: EUROVINO

EUROVINO is one of the young wine fairs and took place for the third time in Karlsruhe. Over 500 exhibitors and trade visitors from the retail, gastronomy and hotel sectors met in a concentrated and personal atmosphere to engage in interesting discussions, make new business contacts and intensify existing partnerships. "With its growing number of participants and increased reach in Germany and neighboring countries, the third edition of EUROVINO shows that it has a firm place in the industry," explains Britta Wirtz, Managing Director of Messe Karlsruhe, adding: "With EUROVINO, we have created a platform that supports producers with its wide range of products to present both classics and new discoveries. Visitors can thus design and optimize their wine ranges in an innovative and high-quality way on site. This also demonstrates the high relevance of trade fairs - within their market, they offer an excellent opportunity to shape the respective customer segment individually and proactively."

Wein & fein is currently participating in the Kochsternstunden menu competition, presenting its ideas for harmonising food and drink (wine and non-alcoholic beverages) in two formats: the PopUp (our restaurant review) was already fully booked before the competition began, but there are still some places available for the ‘New Classics’ menu (our restaurant review)...
