Police in Bischofswerda have tracked down a 36-year-old man after an accident with the help of a service dog. According to witnesses, the man had crashed his motorcycle into an oncoming car at a traffic circle and then fled, as the Görlitz police announced on Monday.

Service dog Ivan picked up the scent on Sunday evening and reportedly led the officers to a garden plot and the slightly injured 36-year-old, who admitted to being the driver in the accident. The police found two bags of crystalline substance on the man there, they said. According to the police, the motorcyclist was also under the influence of amphetamines, cannabis, cocaine and alcohol - and did not have a driver's license. The motorcycle was neither registered nor insured, and the license plates were unsealed. The police are now investigating the 36-year-old.
