VW Staff Meeting: No Clarity for Zwickau

VW CEO Oliver Blume’s visit to Zwickau did not provide employees with any clarity regarding the site’s future. “The crucial questions have not been answered,” stated Thomas Knabel, chief representative of IG Metall Zwickau. Mike Rösler, chairman of the General Works Council at Volkswagen Saxony, spoke of a “mixed mood.” He explained that while the answers many had hoped for were not provided, there was also no bad news. 

On their way home, some employees expressed disappointment with Blume’s performance at the town hall meeting. The Zwickau plant, along with Emden, Hanover, and Neckarsulm, is listed as one of those whose future beyond 2030 is currently uncertain. About 8,000 people currently work there.
