How can structural change succeed in Saxony's industry? Experts discuss e-mobility, infrastructure and new value creation at the Industry Dialogue in Chemnitz.

Around 600 participants are expected to attend the sixth Saxon Industry Dialogue this Thursday (November 20) in Chemnitz. The event is part of the Federal Ministry of Economics' annual regional policy conference 2025 this year, the Saxon Ministry of Economics announced.

The focus will be on industrial value creation potential, e-mobility and infrastructure. Representatives from science, business and politics - including Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Katherina Reiche, Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer (both CDU) and State Secretary for Economic Affairs Sebastian Scheel (SPD) - want to discuss ways in which structural change can be managed and a sustainable growth path achieved.

Impulses for a clean mobility of the future

"The exchange provides impetus on how the transformation as a result of the drive and mobility turnaround can be mastered," said State Secretary Scheel. Saxon companies and research institutions have already developed numerous solutions for "innovative and, above all, clean mobility". Now it is a matter of securing added value, creating new opportunities and implementing these in the municipalities.

According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, this year's Industry Dialogue is dedicated to specific issues of a region in transition - from new added value and a reliable transport infrastructure to the expansion of electricity grids for electromobility and autonomous driving technologies.

Transport and energy transition require an overall view

The Managing Director of the Saxon Energy Agency Saena, Tilman Zimmermann-Werner, emphasized the importance of taking an overall view of transport and energy: "The further development of passenger and freight transport requires both future-oriented vehicles and a reliable energy supply and other infrastructure." The Competence Center for Efficient Mobility provides support in areas such as alternative drives, charging infrastructure, intelligent transport systems and autonomous driving.

The Saxon Industry Dialogue has been held annually since 2020 on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Affairs at different locations in the state. The aim is to network industries more closely and promote ideas for the transformation process, especially in the automotive and supplier industry.
