According to Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU), the automotive industry in Saxony should continue to receive support. "We need framework conditions that strengthen the automotive industry as a whole. The Free State is working on this together with the industry," said Kretschmer at a meeting with automotive suppliers in Reinsdorf (Zwickau district), according to a statement.

He had repeatedly campaigned in Berlin and Brussels for important decisions to be taken. According to Kretschmer, an extension of the deadline for the CO2 fleet limits and more openness to technology are needed.

In addition to the six plants of Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, more than 800 suppliers are active in the Free State.
