Since Saturday, virtually no trams have been running in Leipzig due to heat damage to the tracks. Now, the Leipzig Public Transportation Authority (LVB) is asking the public for help in scraping out the worn-out joint sealant. “Leipzig sticks together. Now we need you,” the LVB writes on its Facebook page.
LVB employees are doing everything they can to repair the damage, and the public has offered numerous offers of help. The cleanup effort will begin at the tram hub at the Goerdelerring stop at 2:00 p.m.
Anyone who wants to lend a hand should wear sturdy shoes and bring something to protect their knees. Work gloves, a safety vest, and a putty knife would also be helpful.
