A Europe-wide service provider for check-in and boarding at airports has fallen victim to a cyber attack. Unlike in Berlin, for example, there has been no impact at the Central German airports.

A cyber attack on a passenger handling system at European airports has so far had no noticeable impact on air traffic in Saxony. Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports have not been affected, said a spokesperson for Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG.

Europe-wide impact - delays in Berlin

The capital's BER airport reported flight delays this morning. A service provider for the passenger handling systems had been attacked on Friday evening, the airport announced. BER Airport then cut the connections to the systems. Passengers have to expect longer waiting times at check-in and boarding and delays.

"The airport itself was not the target of the cyber attack and was only indirectly affected by it," the airport said. The system provider is used at airports across Europe. In addition to Berlin, other European airports are also affected, with confirmed impacts in Brussels and London-Heathrow.
