People in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia will have to wrap up thick on New Year's Eve. Because it's going to be cold, as the German Weather Service announced. During the day on Wednesday, there will be dense clouds in the sky and rain or sleet in the lowlands. It will snow at altitudes above 500 meters. Caution is advised in the car or on walks, as it can become slippery. Temperatures will be between 2 and 4 degrees, at higher altitudes between -2 and 1 degree.
There is still a risk of slippery conditions on New Year's Eve: if you want to watch the fireworks outdoors, you should be very careful. Rain or sleet will fall at times and snow in the mountains. Temperatures will drop to a cold three to zero degrees, and zero to minus three degrees at higher altitudes. Squalls are blowing on the Fichtelberg and the Brocken.
