From "Max and Moritz" to "Rap Chicken": Artists bring stories live to libraries - and every book presented is given as a gift at the end.

The Saxon Library Association wants to get children and young people more interested in books with theater performances in libraries, especially in rural areas. On June 8, the reading promotion project "Kilian/Julian" (children/youth literature differently) will start a new round. Until the beginning of October, artists will bring stories from age-appropriate books to libraries using theater, puppetry and music.

The project is aimed at children and young people from nurseries, primary and special schools, as well as secondary schools, according to the Ministry of Culture in Dresden. A total of 84 performances are planned this year.

In the past few years, classics such as "Max and Moritz" and fairy tales based on the Brothers Grimm as well as newer material such as "The Garbage Monster" or "The Rap Chicken" have been performed. The project is being funded with 70,000 euros. At the end, the participating educational institutions will receive the book presented as a gift.
