The full closure of Prager Straße in Leipzig announced for April is causing discussion. The reason for this is the status of the ongoing construction planning. The citizens' initiative has therefore written an open letter, as reported by the Leipziger Volkszeitung newspaper.
A few weeks before the start of construction, there is a need for clarification. The city and Leipziger Gruppe had invited people to an information evening at the Franz-Mehring-Schule to discuss these issues.
Leipzig residents are concerned: there are questions about detour, waste collection and how to get to their properties. The concerns of schoolchildren, slow traffic and the accessibility of the recycling center were also discussed. Project manager Uwe Albrecht stated that problems would be solved as required.
Representatives of the city and Leipziger Gruppe presented the most important dates: Track, road, sewer and pipeline construction work will be carried out from mid-April to December. Total costs: over twelve million euros.
