Libraries in Leipzig are hosting the first nationwide Night of Libraries on April 4 under the motto "Knowledge. Share. Discover". So that visitors can take a look behind the scenes of library operations, there will be guided tours of the German National Library, Leipzig University Library, Leipzig Municipal Libraries, Library of the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig (HGB), Library of the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences and Library of the Federal Administrative Court as well as the Bach Archive until 11 pm.
"The program is diverse not only because of its program items, but also because of the diversity of the individual libraries. In addition to the 'big houses' such as the National Library, University Library and City Library, the libraries of the universities, museums, the Federal Administrative Court and the Feminist Library MONAliesA, for example, offer many activities. Leipzig can be proud of this rich library landscape," says Mayor of Culture Dr. Skadi Jennicke.
In the City Library, Dr. Skadi Jennicke will open the Library of Languages at 6 p.m. and Bernd-Lutz Lange and Peter Ufer will read at 8 p.m. as part of the theme year "More than a story". The Leipzig Municipal Libraries in Gohlis, Grünau-Mitte, Mockau, Reudnitz and Schönefeld will also be open and will surprise visitors with a film, games evening, quiz and picture book cinema.
