Representation of Leipzig's young people has been determined
The 20 young men and women who make up Leipzig's Youth Parliament have been elected. The election committee has determined the official result.
From April 7, 8 am, to April 14, 8 am, all young people between the ages of 14 and 21 had the opportunity to cast their vote. Anyone whose main place of residence was registered in Leipzig was eligible to vote. In order to keep the hurdles as low as possible, it was not necessary to go to the polls: The election took place online. However, young people who do not have their own internet connection were also able to cast their vote at an online polling station at the Office for Child and Youth Participation in the Democracy and Social Cohesion Department. 23 candidates ran for the 20 seats in the Youth Parliament. Each voter was able to cumulate up to three votes for one candidate or distribute them among several candidates.
The approximately 50,000 young people entitled to vote were notified by post. The election notification letter contained all the important information and a call to vote from the youth parliament as well as an access password.
