The first meeting of the Dresden AI community has become one of the most exciting conferences in the region: Brains on Silicon 2025 brings together international experts, start-ups and companies. Among others, investor Philipp Klöckner and 5G pioneer Prof. Frank H. P. Fitzek will be there.
From the first meetups to the conference stage
The beginnings of the Dresden AI community date back to 2023. Back then, the AI Network Dresden was founded - supported by companies such as digitalwert and ostec as well as partners from research and industry. At the same time, AI Monday Dresden was established, an after-work format by DAIN Studios and elevait, which brought international speakers to the city in cooperation with partners such as Silicon Saxony and Cloud & Heat
Both formats - AI Monday and the AI Network - are independently organized, but share key players in Dresden's tech scene. This overlap has led to a growing ecosystem that has spawned numerous meetups, hackathons and specialist events in a short space of time.
Dresden as a hub for AI
This ecosystem is now taking the next step with the first Brains on Silicon conference. For two days in the fall of 2025, scientists, start-ups, SMEs and international guests will meet in Dresden. Topics range from application AI in companies to digital sovereignty and future infrastructures for AI. In addition to presentations, there will be an expo, a start-up zone and a hackathon.
Dresden is setting an example: The city not only wants to be a semiconductor and chip location, but also a driving force for artificial intelligence made in Europe.
Speakers of international caliber
Highlights include keynotes from Philipp Klöckner, tech investor and co-host of the successful podcast "Doppelgänger Tech Talk". He will provide insights into investment and market trends in the AI sector. Also on stage will be Prof. Frank H. P. Fitzek, Professor at TU Dresden and Head of the 5G Lab Germany. Fitzek is regarded as one of the leading minds in communication networks and 6G research. His presentation will focus on the opportunities and limitations of AI in the next generation of mobile communications.
A strong network for the region
The conference is not just a specialist event, but also a stage for the regional community. Projects from the AI Network Dresden present their solutions, while start-ups from the region meet with investors. The aim is to establish Dresden as a long-term hotspot for applied AI in Europe.
