Women make up around 84 percent of nursing staff in Saxon hospitals. In December 2024, a total of 26,716 people were employed in the nursing departments, according to the State Statistical Office. 57.4 percent of employees were part-time or marginally employed.
May 12 is International Nurses Day. In the 2024 reporting year, 889,253 patients were treated in Saxony's hospitals, staying in hospital for an average of 7.1 days. One full-time nurse cared for an average of 41.4 patients.
