Only the light version instead of 50 kilometers: Why the popular Kammlauf is being shortened again and what this has to do with the weather.

Saxony's traditional folk ski race, the Kammlauf in Klingenthal, was once again only held in a slimmed-down version on Saturday. Instead of the planned 50 kilometers, there was a Kammlauf Light, as the organizers announced.

"The reason was the lack of snow in some areas and the poor weather forecast," said the deputy president of the organizing club VSC Klingenthal, Andreas Kunoth.

At the start and finish location in the Mühlleithen ski stadium, almost 200 athletes set off on several routes in the snow and rain on Saturday. There were races in the classic technique for children and adults. The main race was over 15 kilometers. The last complete ridge race over 50 kilometers took place in 2022.
